Institutional investor

Are organizations and companies whose purpose is to engage in investment activities. In many cases, they can do this on behalf of external clients. By that is meant then, pension funds, hedge funds, family funds, interest organizations, etc.

Such institutional organizations therefore often manage large portfolios with a lot of capital. They usually take larger positions in the companies they are invested in. These are often the organizations we see on the top 10 list of largest owners in companies.
